Cabo San Lucas. It's easy to see why Cabo San Lucas is such a popular stop for cruise ships. The convenient location of the city's cruise ship terminal allows visitors easy access to the many water-based activities companies headquartered around the marina boardwalk, as well as quick and affordable water taxi transportation to beautiful local beaches like Playa El Médano and Playa del Amor. Playa El Médano is approximately a 30 minute walk from the terminal. Médano Beach is definitely worth a visit. This two mile stretch of sand hosts many of Los Cabos' best resorts, restaurants and cantinas and is the go-to spot for jet ski rentals and parasailing rides. Cabo San Lucas' other iconic beach, Playa del Amor (Lover's Beach), is also a highly recommended stop for first-time visitors. Water taxi rides to this picturesque playa are easily arranged, but more satisfying excursions are available through High Tide Sea Expeditions, which offers three hour tandem kayak trips to Land's End, with a leisurely stop at Lover's Beach for snorkeling and snacks. Best of all, the tour starts a very short distance from the cruise ship terminal. Shopping/Visiting the town. Go into any shop & chat with the store owner. Remember that prices are negotiable. Better deals can be found off the main street.
Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. Located on Mexico's gold coast Mazatlan is the closest Mexican Resort to the United States, and it has been a favorite destination for the relaxed pace of life along the Pacific Coast for decades. As the ship approaches the port, Mazatlan seems to stretch for miles north from the port and the Old City. You will certainly love Mazatlan as it is a destination that combines sun and beach with the architectural richness of its historic downtown with details and finishes of neoclassical and French Baroque. Traversing Machado square will allow you to enjoy its gardens and its kiosk. There is much to see and do in Mazatlan but not to be missed is the Immaculate Conception Cathedral located in downtown. The grounds are covered with beautiful flowering trees and bushes. Inside the cathedral, there are stunning columns and stained glass windows. The architecture makes it well worth a visit. It is breathtakingly beautiful. For golfers, 18 hole courses designed by Lee Trevion and Robert Trent Jones Jr. one of the world's foremost course designers, will challenge the delight with fantastic layouts and stunning ocean views.
Puerto Vallarta. A magnificent way to arrive in Puerto Vallarta is by sea. With its beautiful location on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, Puerto Vallarta is understandably one of the most popular resort towns in Mexico. The city is best known for its proximity to the sparkling waters of Banderas Bay which is one of the most beautiful bays in the world. As you approach Puerto Vallarta you'll see the old city on the south end of the bay with the roofs of its buildings browned with tile, then a spread of high-rise hotels up to the Marina Vallarta area. The Sierra Madre mountains provide a stunning backdrop for the city. Downtown is where you'll find the sculptures on the Malecon, or sea-side boardwalk, with the church and the city hall sharing space around the city square. Not to be missed is the Botanical Gardens which came in as one of the best ten nominated by USA today.
